Hiragana

Provides Japanese Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji input using a SKK-like (Simple Kana to Kanji) method, with a modified Hepburn romanization system. For more information of the keys to press, see the Hiragana system here. If this sounds scary and you don't know Kana yet, I'd recommend reading a free tutorial such as at wikibooks as I think Flazzle is best at teaching vocabulary, rather than alphabets (with Chinese characters and Kanji being the exception.)

Tutorial

  1. Enter the word using the keyboard. VERY IMPORTANT: To indicate verb and adjective endings, hold down shift while pressing the next key to differentiate between Kana and Kanji
  2. Press the spacebar to get candidates
  3. Mouse over the characters to get meanings (Optional)
  4. Press one of the keys from indicated to end, for example 'A'

Example

This will teach how to enter 'taberu', to eat (食べる).
  1. Input 'ta' in lowercase letters on your keyboard (▼た)
  2. Input a CAPITAL B by holding down the shift button. The editing point (the triangle) will change (た▼b)
  3. Input the 'eru' in lowercase (た▼べる)
  4. Press the spacebar to show a list of possible words
  5. Press the letter 'a' to finish the word
Well Done! You have just learnt how to input Japanese using Flazzle.
